The single Love Love is still very loyal to the pop-punk sound, but sprinkles in just enough modern synth to make it fresh and interesting. The ever-so-sassy vocal style of JT Crim bounces and jumps playfully above the heavier instrumentals and creates the perfect contrast, making the song a prime candidate for the repeat button. Addictive and fun, with lyrical content that plays to the heart. This is the second single off of the up-coming first installment of their album, entitled "Take Everything," regular readers of The Music Blog will remember that The Deadset are releasing their album in three parts, a series of shorter EPs, to keep new music frequently rolling out. I asked JT a handful of questions about the process of (re)recording their new single.
How has working with Nigel added to your sound?
He pushes us to be our best and get out of our comfort zones. I never would have known I can sing as high as I can if he didn't make me try. Ha! All around he's just a really great, hard-working person to work with.
Do you remember the influences that originally inspired this song?
Of course, it was in the decline of a monumental relationship. We're still friends ;)
How has your sound evolved since the dissolve of Ready Set Die?
It's evolved in so many ways. We are a completely different band. We have really been taking the time to focus in on really getting the sound we want. We used to never want to change things in the studio like the structure of our songs but now we welcome new ideas that ultimately make good songs amazing songs (we hope haha)
What inspired the artwork for the new single?
The way the music industry is going nowadays it's basically a picture of the truth. We're just tiny little stars in the middle of a bunch of other bigger and smaller stars... Hahaha, no just kidding. I dunno actually, I just love the imagery of outer space. One day I'll visit aha!
A local show is in the works, details will be released on the band's social media accounts. Make sure to download the new single on iTunes or Bandcamp, and if you haven't already, follow and like The Deadset on Facebook and Twitter!
