My first experience with singing was in my elementary school choir, with which I performed from age 5 until age 12, when I graduated from White Rock Elementary. Grade school is often where children begin to discover not only what they naturally excel in, but also which new activities and hobbies truly light a spark in their little hearts. Venturing out past the protective shield of home and experiencing the first exhilarating rush of a foreign calling for which you feel you've been missing all along. For me, this passion was singing. I will always remember the goosebumps, the feeling of my heart swelling, and most of all, the sensation that what I was doing was completely natural, that I was meant to be doing it. Singing with the choir was unlike anything else I had ever done. My home had always been full of music since I was born, but this, this was different.
harmonies with impressive accuracy. We toured the local mall, retirement homes, local festivals, of course performed at school assemblies, and in my last year, we had the amazing opportunity to tour and perform at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. But that experience, I'll save for another post.
